Transformational Voice Training Institute

Singing—or intentional speech for that matter—connects us to Source, to each other, and to what is best in ourselves. Modern, western people have been told they cannot sing, experience shame in trying, and are instead conditioned to become consumers rather than practitioners. For those who have sung, many have found voice study to be frustrating, expensive, and rigid. Classical music is held up as THE BEST way to learn singing. If the student doesn’t succeed, it is the student who has failed instead of the teachers or the method. In addition, studies have shown that the number one fear of people isn’t death—its public speaking! No wonder, because the public speaker is expected to succeed with few avenues of assistance or instruction. If we really examine the fear of public speaking, we see that underneath this fear is our real one:  shaming, humiliation, and banishment!

It is the intent of the Transformational Voice Training Institute to call these practices within our culture into question. It is the intent of our teachers to begin to change that culture, one singer at a time. The Voice Classes provide the means by which the Institute changes the culture, and in so doing, enables students to achieve their individual goals around voice.

Our Voice Classes are appropriate for anyone:

  • who always thought they wanted to sing (even if they didn’t feel they could);
  • who already sings but would like to improve;
  • who would like to recover their voice or artistic/spiritual sense of purpose with their voice;
  • who feels their vocal communication is hampered by emotional wounding;
  • who uses their speaking voice in their profession and would like to do so more powerfully or dynamically;
  • who would like to explore voice as a vehicle of self-development and personal growth, or better understand their vocal self-identity;
  • who suffers from stage fright or performance anxiety when speaking or singing, or fears speaking their truth.
  • All styles, all levels, ages 14 and up

All 14 week voice classes are limited to 10 students per class and all 7 week Cultivating the Voice of Leadership classes are limited to 8 students.
