Master Performer’s Certificate
Prerequisites:
- Completion of the Performer’s Certificate.
- Completed Application Form, including a statement of purpose that discusses how working toward the Master Performer’s Certificate serves the musical, vocal, personal, or professional goals of the student.
- Payment of $75 Application Fee.
- Recommendations from one of our Faculty, the Director of Faculty, and the Founder for admission. The recommending faculty will serve as the student’s Mentor throughout the program.
Requirements for Obtaining Master Performer’s Certification:
- An additional year of private study with the Faculty Mentor to prepare performance-ready repertoire in the style/genre of the student’s choice. The student agrees to continue enrollment in private study until the Faculty Mentor can certify that the student is performance-ready.
- The satisfactory completion of a solo concert:
- 50 minutes of music.
- All music memorized and performed accurately and beautifully.
- If classical music:
- Will include repertoire in at least two languages other than English and from three different style periods; or
- Will include an in-depth exploration of one style, language group, composer or theme.
- Will include a collaborative pianist.
- If non-classical music:
- Can be all original material; or
- Can include works of numerous composers; or
- Can be an in-depth exploration of the work of one major composer or style.
- Can include numerous collaborative musicians or can self-accompany on keyboards or guitar.
- Inclusion of spoken program notes in which the audience is educated about the music sung (does not count towards 50 minute requirement).
- The preparation and submission of a thesis on a topic of the students choice and acceptable to the Artistic Director of the Institute. A public lecture and presentation of the Thesis will be necessary as well.
- Payment of a $300 Recital Fee to cover administrative costs, including the printing of programs.
- Student should anticipate additional expenses for payment to Collaborative Pianist for rehearsals and playing of concert. The Institute will assist the performer in any possible to recommend and obtain potential performance venues, for which an additional fee may be charged by the venue.
