A Holistic Approach to Accessing your Authentic Voice
Fri. May 20th, 6-7pm and Sat. May 21th, 6:30-7:30pm, The Theater
All artists are challenged to find the courage to become their best and most unique selves, rather than attempt imitation of another. Your Authentic Voice—a perfect mirror of your essential nature, and unique as your DNA—emerges when you produce your voice in alignment with physiology and those laws of physics affecting breathing and resonance. The Authentic Voice is experienced by ten characteristics, some of which are measurable, and can be accessed with a holistic approach in which the singer integrates mind, body, heart and spirit. The process of revealing the Authentic Voice strips Vocal Technique to its essential core, and can be thought of as being “aligned and attuned.” Linda Brice, Founder/Artistic Director of the Transformational Voice Training Institute, will work with you to find your Authentic Voice quickly, in which your spirit—as well as your voice—can soar in freedom.
Remembering Who You Are: Retrieving Your Spiritual Purpose in Singing
Sat. May 21th, 8-9pm and Sun. May 22th, 6:30-7:30pm, The Theater
Whether one is a successful professional or an accomplished avocational singer, singing is an inherently spiritual activity, uniting the body, mind, heart, and spirit of the singer in fulfillment of a great and noble purpose. That purpose is to be a servant of “Source,” however one conceives of it. The mechanism of our spirituality is breathing, the foundation of our art, and the entry into the Meditative State. Our breathing, in some mystical way, unites singer, Source, composer, collaborative musicians, and the audience. However, we can easily lose our way. We become ensnared by the myth of “The Great Lie,” which states that a singer’s worth is in direct proportion to their fame or how much they are paid. The Great Lie triggers the Inner Critic, putting us at enormous emotional risk of perfectionism, depression, or quitting singing altogether. In this diminished state, we focus on product instead of process, we morph to please, we sing in opposition to our experience of what is true and real, and our performance suffers. Join Linda Brice, Founder/Artistic Director of the Transformational Voice Training Institute, in a masterclass to learn how to focus on performing for all the right reasons, and thus retrieve your true purpose in singing.
